Our Work

We are implementing the GIHF model in Dzemeni, Ghana, in partnership with the community to design, build, and install safer, cleaner, and more hygienic cookstoves, addressing a major source of preventable illness and injury. Rather than imposing our own ideas, GIHF partners with families, local leaders, and influencers to create sustainable solutions using locally available resources.
Central to the model is the formation of a volunteer network of community ambassadors and trainers who champion health practices, train others, and guide long-term adoption. As capacity and ownership grow, GIHF intentionally transitions to a support role, providing technical guidance while empowering the community to lead and expand the work independently.
Our team house in Dzemeni catalyzes these activities and serves as a model for nearby villages. The initiative is led on the ground by Festus Haba, a Guinean missionary and community development leader, and supervised by Danielle Chekaraou, an American public health expert with extensive experience managing health initiatives in developing nations. The Dzemeni experience will be expanded to additional public health priorities and replicated in other high-need communities.
